Football expert Ryan Elliott has cast his eye over Thursday's Europa League fixtures, picking out a 4/1 treble!
Bayer Leverkusen v Rangers - 17:55
Bayer Leverkusen beat Rangers 3-1 at Ibrox in the first-leg of this Europa League tie, and I expect them to be far too strong this time around as well.
Peter Bosz’s men won six of their last eight Bundesliga home games—losing only to Bayern and Wolfsburg—and have also beaten Porto and Atletico Madrid in Europe this season at BayArena.
Steven Gerrard’s men, on the other hand, have won only one of their last five European away games, and there’s no doubt that Leverkusen are the strongest team they’ve faced this season.
A second defeat, and subsequent European exit, is on the cards for Rangers.
Sevilla v Roma - 17:55
This next tip focuses on two teams in great form, where I have both teams scoring in Sevilla vs Roma.
Sevilla are unbeaten in 17 games, while Roma are unbeaten in eight, seven of which being victories.
Though the Spaniards have kept an impressive seven clean sheets from their 11 games post-lockdown, Roma are BTTS machines, with eight of their last nine games resulting in both teams scoring – and a total of 35 goals flying in at either end.
Something has to give here, and the combination of Roma’s potency up front and leaky defence will hopefully see this BTTS shot land.
Basel v Eintracht Frankfurt - 20:00
I’m ending with another BTTS shot, this time for Basel vs Eintracht Frankfurt.
Basel won the first-leg in emphatic fashion, and it’s one of those fixtures where Frankfurt must really go for it from minute one, and that also always leads to chances materialising at both ends.
The Germans, like Roma, love a BTTS game. Adi Hutter’s men have seen 10 of their last 12 end with both teams finding the net, and in their league run-in it was clear that their chaotic defending was offset by the goals of Andre Silva and Bas Dost.
Both teams to score in this later kick-off ends the acca nicely.
