Southampton vs Tottenham - Premier League - 12:00

Ryan Elliott brings you weekly football predictions, tips and analysis on oddschecker.

To start off Sunday’s offering, I have both teams scoring in Southampton vs Spurs.

Southampton and Spurs both lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace and Everton respectively, but this is a game that has traditionally provided goals.

Just one of the last 11 matches between these two in all competitions have not seen both teams score, and while both sides did display a little ring rust in their openers, I believe there’s more than enough firepower on show to see this tip land.

Newcastle v Brighton - Premier League - 14:00

Next up, I have under 2.5 goals as Newcastle host Brighton.

Now this is a game that rarely gifts us with goals. Both of the games last season ended goalless, and in their last six meetings, only four goals have been scored in total.

The general pattern of play will go as follows: Brighton will dominate the ball, Newcastle will park the bus – the Seagulls had 71% possession at St. James’ last season, but they’ve consistently struggled to break them down.

I’m predicting another stinker.

Under 2.5 Goals - 1pt @ 8/13

Rochdale v Portsmouth - League One - 15:00

Finally, I like the look of Portsmouth beating Rochdale.

Dale have been ravaged by their tight financial strains post-COVID, losing a lot of key players, and I can’t make much of a case for them against Portsmouth.

Newly-promoted Swindon comfortably beat Rochdale in their opener, and they should be in for another pointless afternoon.

Though Pompey started their own season in a fairly underwhelming fashion—drawing at home to Shrewsbury—they have so much talent in their squad, and beating Rochdale should be demanded by Kenny Jackett.
