Who will qualify for the Champions League? We bring you our best tips from the next qualifying stage.
18:00 Tuesday FC Karabakh v BATE Borisov
The Kazakhstani side are the masters of keeping their home matches exceptionally tight in the Champions League. Six out of their last eight have been under 2.5 and three of those have been 0-0 affairs. BATE are no strangers themselves to the Champions League and will be happy to take the tie back to their place. I can’t see a goal-fest in this one, and under 2.5 looks a shoe in here.
18:00 Wednesday PAOK v Spartak Moscow
PAOK may have surprised many defeating Basel 5-1 on aggregate but after years of rebuilding their squad, they look a force to be reckoned with, especially at home. They blew away Basel both home and away and face a Spartak Moscow side who can’t travel to save their lives. PAOK have one of the most intimidating venues in the competition and with Prijovic scoring left, right and centre for the Greek side, I’m finding it difficult to get away from the odds-against price of a home win.
18:00 Wednesday Salzburg v Shkendija
Shkendija have had one of the easiest runs so far in their qualifying campaign, facing TNS and Sheriff. They nearly threw away a five goal advantage against the Welsh side, who beat them 4-0 and hit the post twice. A single goal was good enough to see them get past an incredibly weak Sheriff outfit but Salzburg can simply run riot against the Macedonian side. However, there’s slightly more value in the Austrian side to do it without conceding.
19:45 Wednesday Celtic v AEK Athens
Celtic were priced reasonably well when they faced Rosenborg at home last time out, in what turned out to be a very comfortable 3-1 victory. Again, at 3-4 they look a superb price against a side who rely so heavily on their home matches in order to qualify. AEK have lost 8 out of their 10 away matches in the competition, scoring on just three of those occasions. Rodgers will want the tie put to bed in the first leg and the win price is currently very good.
