Football betting expert Tom Love has picked out a 2 point tip for the Europa League semi-final between Inter and Shakhtar.
BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals
The winner of Monday night’s clash between Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk know they will face off with Sevilla in the final.
The bookmakers make the Italians pretty strong favourites to be that team, priced up at 2/5 to qualify. The Ukrainians are as big as 9/4 to make the final, on the flip side. It’s been refreshing to see Shakhtar in Europe this season as we don’t see much of the Ukrainian league over here so they’ve been somewhat of a surprise package.
It’s can be quite hard to compare leagues but Shakhtar have certainly passed the eye test. They’ve always a heavy Brazilian contingent at the club and that’s certainly the case this season with no fewer than seven main players from the South American country. Marcos Antonio and Dodo are the latest players to make the breakthrough and they have been superb this season, as has Taison and Junior Moraes.
The latter has been in Ukraine for a while and is now a naturalised Ukrainian. I was shocked to find he is 33-years-old, he has been playing like someone ten years younger and will no doubt pose a threat to the Inter backline.
Inter have been well fancied in this competition from the get-go and have justified their early favourites tag so far. They have a stacked squad but Antonio Conte will continue to moan about wanting more. To be fair, Conte has done a good job this season and has a man in form in the shape of Romelu Lukaku who is proving unplayable at the minute.
Inter will fancy their chances of scoring a couple against a pretty shaky Shakhtar defence but will face tests at the back themselves given how good their opponents are going forward.
That brings me to my sole selection for this game. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is priced up at even money and that looks just the ticket in what should be an entertaining game. Shakhtar have scored 14 goals in their 5 Europa league games and this bet has landed in 4 of those 5. Given it’s a one-legged tie it will bring a team out when they go 1-0 down which is always good for goals backers. We’ve seen this bet land in all Champions League quarter finals and the semi-final yesterday.
