The Carabao Cup second round takes centre stage on Tuesday night, with Premier League and EFL clubs battling for a place in round three.
We have picked out four selections from Tuesday's fixtures to create a 6/1 Carabao Cup accumulator, combining two outright winners with two Both Teams to Score selections.
Birmingham vs Brentford: Brentford to win
Brentford make an appealing first leg after producing one of the standout performances of the opening Premier League weekend. Keith Andrews' side swept Tottenham aside 3-0 on Saturday, with Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode all finding the net as the Bees made an immediate statement.
There could also be a favourable tactical matchup at St Andrew's. Brentford scored nine Premier League goals from fast breaks last season, more than any other side, while Birmingham manager Chris Davies admitted his team had looked vulnerable in transition during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bristol City. The Bees' ability to move quickly from defence to attack could therefore cause significant problems if the Championship side commit numbers forward.
Birmingham should not be underestimated. They are unbeaten across their first three competitive matches and have developed a formidable home record. They also conceded fewer shots per game than any Championship side across the opening two league fixtures.
However, Brentford reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals last season and possess enough depth to rotate without dramatically weakening their starting XI. Following such an emphatic opening-day Premier League performance, the Bees are fancied to make their extra quality count and progress within 90 minutes.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Wolves: Wolves to win
Wolves arrive at Hillsborough in excellent early-season form, remaining unbeaten across their first three competitive matches under Cesar Peixoto. The Old Gold have scored eight goals during that sequence, beating Port Vale 3-0 in the first round of the Carabao Cup before drawing 2-2 with Blackburn and recording an impressive 3-1 Championship victory at Preston on Saturday.
Fer Lopez has scored four goals in three competitive appearances, including a brace at Deepdale, while summer signing Adam Armstrong has found the net twice despite starting Saturday's victory on the bench.
That strength in depth is particularly important for a midweek cup tie. Peixoto is expected to rotate at Hillsborough, but the likes of Armstrong, Jordan James, Tommy Doyle, Boubacar Traore and David Moller Wolfe are among those who could come into the starting XI. Wolves also made changes in the first round without losing their attacking edge, scoring three first-half goals against Port Vale to effectively settle the tie before the interval.
Sheffield Wednesday cannot be dismissed after beating Championship side Bolton 1-0 in the previous round and Leyton Orient 2-1 in their League One opener. However, Henrik Pedersen's side come into Tuesday following a 1-0 home defeat to Bradford, while Wolves arrive with considerably greater depth and attacking momentum.
With Wolves having already scored three times in two of their first three games, the Championship side should have enough quality to progress inside 90 minutes.
Southampton vs West Ham: Both Teams to Score
Goals at both ends look a strong angle at St Mary's, particularly given West Ham's start to 2026/27. Both teams have scored in all three of the Hammers' competitive matches, with Nuno Espírito Santo's side beating Portsmouth 3-1 in the first round of the Carabao Cup, drawing 2-2 at Burnley and losing 2-1 to Charlton on Saturday.
Southampton have also carried plenty of attacking threat, scoring six times in their opening three competitive fixtures. Tonda Eckert's side followed a 2-0 cup victory at Colchester with a 2-1 defeat at Watford and Saturday's 3-1 home win over Stoke, meaning BTTS has landed in both of their Championship matches.
West Ham's defeat to Charlton was particularly encouraging for this market because there was attacking threat despite another poor defensive display. The Hammers registered 25 shots and nine efforts on target while enjoying 77.6% possession, but defensive mistakes allowed Charlton to score twice.
The Hammers had also surrendered a 2-0 lead in the final seven minutes at Burnley a week earlier, with Jarrod Bowen subsequently calling on his side to stop conceding poor goals. West Ham clearly possess enough attacking quality to trouble Southampton, but their early defensive vulnerability makes it difficult to trust them for a clean sheet.
Rotation could add another element to an already attractive BTTS fixture. Eckert has confirmed he is considering changes after Southampton played only three days ago, while maintaining that Saints will approach the tie looking to win. With the hosts carrying attacking momentum and West Ham having both scored and conceded in every competitive match this season, Both Teams to Score makes plenty of appeal for the third leg.
Nottingham Forest vs Leeds: Both Teams to Score
Nottingham Forest and Leeds meet for the second time in just four days after Daniel Farke's side claimed a 1-0 Premier League victory at the City Ground on Saturday, but the scoreline did not tell the full story.
Forest had opportunities to break the deadlock before Anton Stach's 88th-minute free-kick won it for Leeds, with Igor Jesus and Chris Wood among those to pass up chances for Oliver Glasner's side. The quick rematch, combined with likely changes to both starting line-ups, offers the potential for a very different game on Tuesday night.
The 2025/26 meetings between these clubs make a compelling case for goals at both ends. Both Premier League fixtures finished 3-1 to the home side, meaning the teams combined for eight goals and BTTS landed comfortably on each occasion. Leeds' 3-1 victory at Elland Road in February saw Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin score before Lorenzo Lucca grabbed a late consolation for Forest.
Saturday's clean sheet was also notable precisely because Leeds had struggled defensively on their travels last season, while Forest themselves were far from watertight. That combination contributed to both teams scoring in their two head-to-head league meetings and gives this rematch a solid historical BTTS foundation.
There is also reason to expect Tuesday's cup tie to be less cagey than the opening-day meeting. With only three days separating the fixtures, both managers have the opportunity to freshen up their attacks and give squad players a chance to impress. Forest should create enough to improve on Saturday's blank, while Leeds have already demonstrated they can hurt the hosts at the City Ground.
