Even with Pep Guardiola expected to rotate more heavily than in the previous round due to the title race tightening against Arsenal, Manchester City should still field a side far too strong for Salford. City showed no mercy last time out, thrashing League One Exeter City 10–1. This fixture also has recent precedent, with City dismantling Salford 8-0 last year. Regardless of rotation, the gulf in quality should again translate into a heavy scoreline.

Norwich look clear of relegation danger and therefore have greater incentive to attack this competition. They demonstrated their intent in the last round with a dominant 5-1 win over Walsall. In league form, Norwich top the table over the last ten matches and have won six of their last seven overall.

West Brom, by contrast, are struggling badly, scoring just once in their last five matches without recording a win. With the Baggies only two points above the relegation zone, rotation is expected. The Canaries also beat The Baggies 0-5 back in January, so have previous against Saturday’s visitors.

Blackburn enter this fixture in turmoil, sitting in the relegation zone after the sacking of Valérien Ismaël. Under interim boss Damien Johnson, they narrowly beat bottom-side Sheffield Wednesday before losing 2–0 to Norwich, managing just six shots.

With such contrasting home and away trends, Cardiff look strong value to take all three points.
