The Premier League summit awaits as City head to the Cottage.
Man City’s trip to Fulham already feels like a forgone conclusion – and perhaps it is – but there’s still plenty of value to be found!
Though relegation looks like an absolute certainty for Scott Parker’s men, you can’t accuse them of going down with a total whimper: their 2-1 defeat against Liverpool just before the international break shows there is talent in that squad, and they would have earned a deserved point if not for the stupidity of the hapless Sergio Rico in goal.
I think City will deal with Fulham a little more comfortably than Liverpool did, but I’m going to forget about the full-time result for now; my first tip is for the Cottagers to pick up at least one card in each half.
Only 5 sides have picked up more yellow cards than Fulham’s 55, and they’ll no doubt resort to the dark arts to stop City on Saturday. This is priced at a fairly generous 29/20, which is why it caught my eye.
Staying with the disciplinary theme, I’m backing Sergio Aguero to score and Aleksandar Mitrović to be shown a card.
Aguero is the league’s top scorer and will be up against a side who have conceded 70 goals – this part shouldn’t require much more explanation.
As for Mitro, he’s unsurprisingly Fulham’s joint-most prolific yellow card recipient; he’ll be keen as ever to cause chaos up front, making 7/2 look rather tempting.
My final tip is for Manchester City to lead 1-0 at half-time.
43% of City’s away games have seen them head into the break 1-0 up, and they’re definitely a little less destructive (though still very, very good) on the road.
A 1-0 deficit is also Fulham’s favourite half-time scoreline – both home and away – so while there’s every chance City will demolish them within 20 minutes on Saturday, the statistics suggest a 1-0 lead at the break may instead be on the cards.
