Two of the Premier League's most inconsistent sides lock horns this Saturday.
This looks like a bit of a stinker to predict. West Ham and Everton are both sides packed with talent, but a painful lack of consistency has so often been their downfall this season.
Little is on the line as these two meet at the London Stadium – although defeat would put yet more pressure on Toffees boss Marco Silva – but there’s still plenty of value to be found.
Prior to the international break, both West Ham and Everton were involved in absolutely barmy games of football: The Hammers came from 3-1 down to beat Huddersfield, while Everton managed to blow a 2-0 lead in their defeat against Newcastle. The chances of seeing pure brilliance or utter stupidity are about equal here, with either side more than capable of both.
At 8/5, however, I do like the price of West Ham to win.
It’s taken them a while, but The Hammers have finally started to find some consistency at home. One defeat in nine - taking four points from matches against Arsenal and Liverpool along the way – shows they’re a better side than this price suggests, particularly because Everton have lost six of their last nine on the road.
West Ham are hardly the most water-tight of sides: Lukasz Fabianski has made the highest number of saves in the Premier League by some distance this season (119), and I’m sure he’ll be busy once again on Saturday.
With this in mind, my next tip is a price boost: Gylfi Sigurdsson to register two or more shots on target.
Considering the Icelandic playmaker averages 2.2 shots-per-game – the joint-highest in the Everton squad – and West Ham do like to concede plenty of shots, 3/1 looks a cracking price.
Finally, I’m backing Javier Hernandez to score at any time.
The Mexican’s late brace secured all three points against Huddersfield for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and with another goal for his country during the international break, heads into this brimming with confidence.
Everton have just two clean sheets from their last nine away games (against Cardiff and Huddersfield), and I’d be surprised if Jordan Pickford registers another shut-out against a Hammers outfit with nine goals from their last three at home.
Chicharito did the damage against Huddersfield, and I can see him repeating the trick against Everton.
