Can Newcastle stop Brendan's resurgent Foxes?
Brendan, oh Brendan. How I’ve missed you.
Ol’ Brendan’s little foray in Scotland is over, and he’s back—accompanied by a lovely Glaswegian tan—to take the Premier League by storm once again.
And my word, has he started well. Leicester City have won five of their last six matches, and the improvement under Rodgers has been marked. Jamie Vardy has scored seven goals in his last six, and Leicester will fancy their chances against a Newcastle side who haven’t travelled well of late.
Rafa Benitez’s men are often tough to beat, but three points from their last eight away games isn’t a good record, and with Leicester flying as they are, I can only see one result.
The Foxes have won five of their last six matches against Newcastle, and I’m backing them to fly to another Brendan-infused victory.
Newcastle matches are generally pretty dull.
Just 38% of their away games have seen over 2.5 goals, and while Leicester have re-discovered their goalscoring touch, Newcastle will turn this match into a slog.
I’m confident the Foxes will eventually claim the points, but backing under 2.5 goals alongside it looks a good option.
My final tip is for over 11.5 corners.
Only Fulham, Cardiff and Burnley have conceded more corners than Newcastle this season, while Leicester have earned more corners than every single side in the league barring Manchester City and Liverpool.
Newcastle like defending—it’s what is going to keep them in the Premier League—and part of that is dealing with plenty of corners.
This seems well-priced at 7/5.
