Huddersfield's misery is almost at an end.
While the result seems like a total formality, there is still some decent value in Liverpool’s meeting with Huddersfield at Anfield.
It feels like an age ago since Huddersfield were relegated, and unlike Fulham—who have significantly improved post-relegation—The Terriers’ season is meandering to a truly miserable end.
With a Champions League semi-final against Barcelona looming for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp will want to secure the three points on Friday as quietly and efficiently as possible, so don’t be surprised to see a number of fresh faces in The Reds’ starting XI.
That said, Liverpool will still win at a canter, which is why I’m backing them to secure victory with a -2 handicap.
Huddersfield have failed to score in seven of their last eight on the road—so they’re unlikely to throw a spanner in the works—meaning Liverpool need three goals for this tip to land. Easy.
Just six of the 69 goals Huddersfield have conceded this season have come in the first 15 minutes, while Liverpool’s tally in the first quarter-hour is just seven.
At 21/5, there is definitely value in backing Liverpool’s first goal to be scored between 21-30 minutes.
It’s a small time window, but it’s a period of the match which is Liverpool’s second-favourite in terms of goalscoring, and Huddersfield’s second-most prolific in terms of concessions.
Finally, I’m backing Juninho Bacuna to be shown a card.
Only three Huddersfield players have been booked more times than Bacuna this season, and with yellow cards in his last two matches, the Dutchman certainly has a taste for mischief.
