Will the Canaries prosper back in the Premier League?
After their swashbuckling and somewhat unexpected promotion from the Championship last season, Norwich City now look to dispel their yo-yo-club tag and set about cementing their place in the Premier League.
A big question mark hanging over the Canaries is if whether they can continue their attacking, exciting brand of football in the unforgiving world of the Premier League. Generally speaking, newly-promoted sides who focus on solidity at the back have the most luck in their first season in the big time, but Daniel Farke will believe he has the tools at his disposal to have a good crack at staying up.
In Teemu Pukki, the Canaries have a ready-made goalscorer, and the signings of Josip Drmic from Borussia Monchengladbach and Patrick Roberts on loan from Manchester City will give Farke that bit more depth in attacking areas.
However, the signing of the season so far is goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann. The former Schalke skipper was widely regarded as one of the very best Bundesliga stoppers for many years, and is a significant step up from the talented-but-inconsistent Tim Krul. A good season from Fahrmann and Norwich have a decent chance of survival.
The Canaries are 21/20 for the drop, and there’s certainly a lot of uncertainty around some of the relegation candidates: Newcastle have appointed Steve Bruce, Sheffield United still look short of a little quality, Brighton took a risk with their appointment of Graham Potter, Burnley are coming in off the back of a tepid season. The race for survival looks wide open this year, and if the City players can quickly adapt to the rigours of the top-tier, they may well be celebrating come May.
