Sun City has long been a tour stop since my childhood and always holds memories of a hard fought battle between a limited field for some end of tour dollars. Nowadays it is totally different with 63 players teeing it up and it being an integral part of the final few furlongs of the Race To Dubai. I'm sure the tour would have liked to have assembled a better field for this one but given the run in to Dubai and the WGC it is a busy time of year. Hitting greens here is the obvious marker for scoring down the years and I don't expect this year to be any different. Westwood won last year finishing 4th in GIR. Upon winning two years ago Grace ranked joint 2nd in GIR alongside runner up Scott Jamieson. Dubuisson who tucked in behind in 3rd topped the GIR standings. The year before Noren lifted the trophy whilst topping GIR. It would be silly to dismiss these figures and they're certainly worth keeping an eye on while narrowing down your search for a winner.

Louis Oosthuizen performs well in these parts but looks awful short for any investment. He has gone well numerous times here but has the habit of falling short and you'd need to be a brave man to back around odds of 10/1. Fleetwood doesn't look at his best this past year and a failure to win will be eating at him. He has a lot to play for in this Race to Dubai so I wouldn't put it past him to respond to pressure, but again too short for me.

Henrik Stenson is favourite in my book and I'm more than happy to get involved at 14/1. Winless in a couple of years this Nedbank renewal probably represents his best chance of a victory for a fair while. With a win here in 2008 he has three runner up finishes to go alongside when the field was reduced a number of years ago. That in itself is a better record than Oosthuizen and although the latter looks to be in better nick I prefer Stenson at slightly the bigger price. His game is ideally suited to the Gary Player Country Club so much so that the last two times he teed it up here he went off 7/2 and 6/1 respectively. 14/1 awaits this week and it looks too good an opportunity to turn down in a weak enough looking market.

I was tempted by Kirt Kitayama last week and was nearly left crestfallen as he looked like the winner on a few occasions as the Turkish Open came to a conclusion. The American had proved to be still somewhat unpopular with the layers despite some great efforts and a handful of wins. Everyone is now alive to his chances and a top price of 28/1 is there for us to nibble at and I'll have a few quid despite the price being only fair. The Californian will be used to plenty of golf courses with thick Kikuyu in his home state and hopefully this can prove a positive as he heads to Sun City for the first time. He will be less suited to a tight, shortish track but he is talented enough to overcome this. Three top 5 finishes in his last four events at top class events spell Kitayama can't be far from securing another win and in turn the rookie of the year accolade.

A cyst on his wrist forced Ian Poulter to withdraw from HSBC but it may be worth chancing the Englishman given how he was playing before that. Two top 20s at the Zozo and CJ Cup were decent efforts in strong fields and with experienced sorts winning this down the years he could put his best foot forward. At only a few points shorter though it's too tempting to back Westwood. A three time winner of this event he is an absolute specialist around this track. It suits his solid long game that he avoids most of the trouble around here and takes the opportunities given to him with plenty of fairways hit. He finished 6th two years ago also and has shown he can do it here even when the field has been stretched out. I didn't expect a lot bigger than 20/1 here so I have to get involved at 33s mainly on value alone. Justin Harding is another one of interest and it'd be no surprise to see Migliozzi and Langasque continue their good form from last week.
