Niall Lyons has put together a 13/2 treble for the second round of matches at the WGC Match Play in Texas.
17:16 Morikawa v Svensson
Collin Morikawa v Adam Svensson - Adam Svensson
Adam Svensson was one up on Jason Day through 10 holes yesterday before the Australian sprinted for home finishing with six birdies and closing out the game 4&2. That was harsh on Svensson who was four under par through 12 holes. DataGolf has put together a SG chart overnight which actually shows Svensson 0.3 shots better off than Morikawa yesterday.
Perez didn't put up much of a fight against Morikawa yesterday and the American was only able to close out the game on the 17th. Svensson looks overpriced at 15/8 to defeat Morikawa given the solid golf he played yesterday.
16:54 Cantlay v Lee
Patrick Cantlay v Kyoung-Hoon Lee - Patrick Cantlay
Cantlay hanging on at the end to win 1up on Taylor was hard to believe seeing he shot sixe under par with no mistakes on the card. It was a relief to see him hole that putt on the last and that's a good sign for the remainder of the week. Cantlay is a fine match player and KH Lee shouldn't stand in his way of taking control of this group. Cantlay was the 7th best performer in the field yesterday beating Taylor (ranked 10th). Confidence will be flowing and I'd make a case for Cantlay needing to be considerably shorter than the 4/6 out there.
17:27 Day v Perez
Jason Day v Victor Perez - Jason Day
Jason Day was a runaway winner in the end v Svensson despite the Canadian playing quite well. Prior to the tournament starting I didn't want to get involved with this group on the outright as Perez looked a difficult opponent. He wasn't good yesterday though shooting level par over 17 holes whilst Day really has the bit between his teeth. He may be a tough one to stop in this half of the draw and I expect him to dispatch of the Frenchman comfortably.
