Niall Lyons has three selections as part of his BMW International Tips for the action in Munich.
BMW International
Eichenreid in Munich hosts once again for the BMW International Open and whilst the odd time we'd get the odd big pga tour name taking part here the fact the event goes up against an elevated event across the water means the field suffers a little. Nevertheless a handful make the journey from Los Angeles to compete in one of the tours flagship events.
We are on the home stretch for the Ryder Cup hopefuls and they dominate the front end of the market. There have been many ways to skin this cat down the years but a solid ball striking game to hit plenty of greens in regulation looks the key to success. There isn't a whole pile of room off the tee and although scores will be low here they'll need to be made from the cut and prepared and those struggling with the driver will find it difficult to get into the conversation here.
BMW International Open Tips
Nine of the 10 who make the trip from LACC missed the cut last week but it's worth noting some have tasted success landing here following on from a major. Els won here in 2013 following a trip to Merion whilst Stenson managed a runner up following his trip from the States.
Fitzpatrick was another who went close finishing runner up after a US Open whilst Hovland of course landed a victory even though he only played one round in the major the previous week.
We've had better fields here down the years but with the elevated status of the Travelers Championship it is difficult to tell whether a weaker contingent than those I have previously mentioned coming from the US Major will have a big impact here. It certainly appears on paper they have a fair chance though if they can overcome the jet lag quickly.
Adrian Meronk to Win at 15/1
For my BMW International Open tips, it's a two pronged attack from the market leaders with two win only bets, the first being Adrian Meronk. Meronk is becoming a theme in my DPWT previews and we've already landed a win this season with him but I can't but feel there is more to come and he is a fair bit better than anyone else in the field.
Meronk's DPWT form this season reads 34-WIN-10-CUT-4-21-WIN-5. That's two wins in his last 8 and 3 in his last 18 if you look back to last Summer. Meronk has become reasonably prolific and a test such as this should bring out the best in his game. He missed the cut last week in LA on the number largely down to a poor display around the greens on day two which saw him suffer a 3 over par round and narrowly miss out on the weekend.
He returns to a much easier field however and a debut on this track could yield more dividends in what is an important few months upcoming. Had his short game held up in Holland a few weeks ago he could have added another victory to his season and if there is any improvement in that department he'll be a tough nut to keep off the top of the leaderboard at the weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard to Win at 18/1
If Meronk tops my rankings in this field and I feel his ceiling is higher than most around him in the market, then similarly Rasmus Hojgaard ranks a comfortable second. He is another who will need an extremely fast finish to his campaign to get into the Ryder Cup conversation and that race begins now.
He lay 4th here after round one last year but didn't quite hit the heights in order to give Pieters or Li a scare over the weekend. Nevertheless that is 7 under par rounds from 8 that he has shot around here and I'd expect him to continue that form given his most recent outings. A top three finish in the KLM was a fair achievement given how poor he was off the tee and he was lucky the putter behaved so well that week.
Last time out in the European Open his largely consistent iron play deserted him but most importantly his driving improved significantly and should he continue in that manner then he'll be a force this week. Following a large chunk of the season out due to injury Rasmus needs to get motoring and Eichenreid looks the perfect setup for him to do so.
3pts WIN R.Hojgaard 18/1 Paddypower
Paul Waring at 55/1 (Six Places)
Another with 7 under par rounds here from eight appearances is Paul Waring and it'd be foolish to ignore his return to form of late. 10th at the European Open and 5th in the Scandinavian Mixed have been both compiled with an excellent long game and on both occasions could have been better with an improved effort on the greens.
The most notable aspect of improvement has been the ball striking with his latest iron performance being his best since Mallorca last October. His driving in Sweden was exceptional also, with this being his best effort from the tee dating back to Turkey in 2019.
There's no doubt Waring struggles to make an impact at times down to his short game but the upturn with his long game is worth risking as a few have won here down the years simply by hitting more greens than anyone else and he has the capability of separating himself from the others in that department.
