Day 1 Match 2

Morikawa/Theegala to beat Scott/Lee

Hopefully we can get the close match this game deserves and with five fourball matches kicking off from 16.35 today it should be cracking evening of golf.

With a couple of pre-tournament bets looking good with An and Henley both heading out with strong partners today we will look to get the week off to a great start with a fourball treble, starting with Morikawa and Theegala to get the better of Scott and Lee.

With tight fairways and high rough here this course should be perfect for Morikawa and in fourballs he looks a great partner to have.

Theegala is one of the Americans who has managed a game since the Tour Championship at the Procore and that feels like it should be a positive heading into this week. Min Woo is hit and miss with his approach play and that could put Scott's short game under some pressure.

Day 1 Match 3

Scheffler/Henley to beat Im/Kim

Scheffler and Henley looks a partnership made in heaven to my eyes and I'm surprised they're not a little shorter to get the better of Im and Kim.

Both the Internationals picked up the baton a little late in the season this year and Tom Kim didn't make the BMW leg of the FedEx playoffs sitting in that dreaded 51st spot.

Henley for me was a lively outsider this week and it was bold of the American team to pair him with Scheffler and they'll be banking on them delivering the goods. Scheffler is unbeaten in three fourball matches across this and the Ryder Cup and I expect that to continue today.

Day 1 Match 5

Matsuyama/Conners to beat Cantlay/Burns

Patrick Cantlay has a solid record in this event but from four fourball matches he has three defeats and only one victory. Burns has yet to win a fourball game in two tries at this event.

There is little doubt Cantlay is a fighter in these team matches but his end to the season was slightly lacklustre and I prefer the Internationals in this game.

In Hideki they have a recent winner of the St Jude and Conners unlike the two American's showed up at the Procore a few weeks ago. It's a ball striking dream the International pairing here and they can once again put Cantlay to the sword in the fourballs.
