Niall Lyons picks out three top betting picks for 2026 Myrtle Beach Classic in South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach Classic
Course: The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, South Carolina.
Robert Trent Jones Sr was the designer here and the course is an interesting one. A par 71 at 7,347 yards the course certainly isn't short and with narrow enough fairways it should provide a fair test for this field. Driving accuracy hasn't featured as heavily as first thought though in the first couple of renewals here. Gotterup ranked 60th in that stat when winning and Fox 30th.
These two winners both have a distinct profile having now both won on links and numerous good finishes by the coast. They are both absolute sluggers off the tee also and we must conclude from their lack of accuracy off the tee combined with their length that this course is extremely bomber friendly. If we can find a few extremely long golfers from the tee who have a decent profile by the coast also then we may strike lucky.
Tip 1: Brooks Koepka - 4pts WIN (General)
Best odds of 14/1 at bet365 while publishing.
The top of the market stands out here and I'll be taking two of them with the first of them being Brooks Koepka who could seize this opportunity to get a victory on the boards and ultimately make his way back into those dreaded, frightful, dull Signature events. In all seriousness he will have to take these events seriously now given the position he is in in the game and given the type of character that he is I remain convinced he will find a way back close to his best.
Whether more majors will arrive or not is up for debate, but he is certainly capable and has a good enough attitude to work hard enough to get back to where he belongs. These opposite field events will be a huge chance for him and having not been a million miles off tipping him at the Masters a month ago I feel I am wedded to him for an event such as this.
12th at Augusta was a fine effort and this will be his first individual outing since. He ranks 10th in strokes gained tee to green this season which is a fine effort given his status was more than in the balance only a number of months ago. Course wise there shouldn't be any issues and we just hope that the putter can heat up. Any repeat of his 12th at Augusta or his 13th at Sawgrass would probably be enough to win this or go very close so at 14/1 he is more than a fair price.
Tip 2: Marco Penge - 3pts Each-Way (1/5 6)
Best odds of 20/1 at SpreadEx while publishing.
Rasmus Hojgaard fits a similar profile to Ryan Fox in that he's won on links and looks to have a perfect game for this type of test. Slight concern here is that he hasn't played since the Masters and almost a month off doesn't look like perfect preparation. It hasn't been plain sailing for Marco Penge but I am high on his stock and for that reason he makes the staking plan here.
He was an incredibly quick learner on the DPWT winning three times in only his second season. There is an argument to suggest it may take a season this side of the Atlantic before he lands a victory also but I'm prepared to get involved with him this week in an opposite field event which he really should contend. Penge has a runner up at last years Scottish Open in the bag which is relevant and has sufficient results in stronger fields than this to suggest he's up to the task.
He is one of the longest hitters in the game and has gained valuable experience this year playing alongside Rory McIlroy. His adaptation to life in America hasn't been easy with finding a place to practice being demanding at times and maybe that's the reason why we always haven't seen the best of him. 16th at Riviera and 4th at Innisbrook have been fine efforts and he has made his last four cuts so there is a chance he is getting a firmer footing.
A golf course like this has come at the perfect time and the drop in class should mean he holds every chance. His iron play will need to improve from recent outings but he is a huge prospect in the game and I believe not many have just copped on yet as to how good he could be.

Tip 3: Matthieu Pavon - 1pt Each-Way (1/5 6)
Best odds of 100/1 at Unibet while publishing.
Dan Brown just landed his finish on the PGA Tour to date alongside John Parry in the Zurich and on a test that should suit it would be no surprise should he manage another fine effort. An outsider I'm willing to get involved with this week is Mathieu Pavon. A win at the Farmers and a 3rd place at Pebble Beach is all relevant and given that he has a 7th place at Waialae also he has fared pretty well by the coast in USA.
He has also gone quietly about some decent business this season with only three missed cuts in eleven events. 17th at PGA National and 11th at Innisbrook have been two particular highlights. He has gained some distance this season also ranking longer off the tee than pga tour average in all but three events he has played. 20th alongside Martin Couvra was a fair effort last time out at the Zurich.
Overall I think he's playing quite well lately and has been somewhat forgotten about by the market. Having won at Torrey Pines should he get into contention here he won't be afraid by what faces him and anything of 80/1 or above looks quite tasty.
