Niall Lyons picks four to follow at the 2026 Omega European Masters.

Course - Crans Sur Sierre GC, Switzerland. This iconic layout is etched in our minds now after decades of this event and there's little doubt it's one of the most coveted prizes on the circuit.
With a short yardage and playing at altitude this course will be taken on by many off the tee and although driving distance hasn't featured much here down the years it's worth noting that Aberg and Hojgaard finished in the top 5 in that statistic in 2023 whilst Mansell was 3rd the year before having ranked 4th in driving distance. The first two home in 2024 ranked 13th and 14th in driving distance. Last year runner up Rasmus Hojgaard topped the driving distance stat. I'd favour accuracy though with Bjork and Rozner both topping that statistic in 2022 and 2023 and making the top 5.
2024 saw two of the top 5 in driving accuracy inside the top 3. Last year three of the top 5 were inside the top 20 in driving accuracy.
Staying out of trouble with plenty of water around is key. It's really what you do from your second shot onwards here that will count and those who either hit plenty of greens or scramble well will feature late on Sunday afternoon.
This is one of the tracks that holds up previous form the most on tour and it's important to keep that in mind when narrowing down the field. That being said four of the last six winners have been debutants so ruling out those coming here for the first time would be foolish.

Rasmus Hojgaard at 18/1 (Eight Places)
Jayden Schaper played nicely last week and there was a welcome turnaround with the putter. His price coupled with a poor enough record around here to date is just about enough to eliminate him from my staking plan. Top of the list this week has to be Rasmus Hojgaard who I expected to be a lot closer in the betting to favourite Ryan Gerard. The last time we saw Rasmus in action was in his home country for the Danish Championship where he came with a wet sail in the closing holes only to be outdone by a career defining effort by Jeff Winther. Prior to that a top 5 finish in the Rocket Classic at the beginning of August tells us that Rasmus is in very decent shape heading back onto the DP World Tour. He is one of the recent winners who won on debut here back in 2021 and he added a runner up to that just last year. A victory and another top 3 finish at the Belfry is also relevant to this week. It is true that the putter has done the bulk of the work for him lately but he finds an advantage with the driver around here that not many find easy to do and the 20/1 available is more than fair.
Patrick Reed at 30/1 (Five Places)
My second play towards the top of the market is Patrick Reed. Having sewn up his PGA Tour card quite early in the year it is understandable that Reed has slightly taken his foot off the gas since. Many of the DPWT fields he has found himself in since his victory in Qatar have been weak enough and motivation may be an issue. 12th in the Masters, 10th at the PGA Championship and 13th at the Scottish Open have been the highlights since Qatar and shows what he can do in much stronger fields. The history and importance of this and upcoming events won't be lost on Reed and I expect him to click into gear. His only appearance here was back in 2015 where he finished 16th and I expect this course to play to his liking. He doesn't need length off the tee which helps and the importance on scrambling and putting here can not be underestimated. Reed has these talents in abundance and to me eyes he looks a pretty price to get the better of the field here.
Guido Migliozzi at 75/1 (Five Places)
Guido Migliozzi has made four of his last five cuts and may have arrived at Crans at the perfect time for him. In May he went close in Turkey finishing runner up but recent efforts in fairly strong fields catch the eye. 59th in the Scottish Open was a fair result given the quality of that assembled field whilst 37th last week at the Belfry was fine given that he didn't putt all that well. The rest of his game was in fine shape and there's every chance he capitalises upon that now back in the Swiss mountains. Only twice in six appearances here has he been outside the top 13 and he has made 6 from 6 cuts. His short game more than anything else has shone around here down the years but given how he played from tee to green last week there is a lot of hope for even better. Course form historically translates really well here and Migliozzi is definitely one for the shortlist.
Joost Luiten at 80/1 (Five Places)
Another course dog who would be foolish to ignore is Joost Luiten. Now into his 40s Luiten is one of the most consistent operators on this circuit although you have to go back to 2018 before finding his last victory. If another is to arrive, Crans would be high up the list of potential candidates. He has made his last eight cuts here on the trot finishing 5th and 6th in the last two renewals. He knows how to get the ball around this track and recently has been playing some really nice golf. A repeat of his top 20 in Scotland in July would go a long way to contending for this title whilst finishes of 26th and 37th the last two weeks have been completed by ranking 18th and 10th in strokes gained approach respectively. He has what it takes to put it to the tournament favourites and his experience around here should count for plenty.
