Michael Smyth gives his thoughts on the final of the Coral Essex Vase and provides three tips for today's Greyhound racing.
19:44 Romford
One the appeals at the prices on offer this evening is KILARA BERB who lines up from T1 in the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard open race at 7.44 over the four-bend 400 metre trip. The Monmore raider is blessed with blistering early pace, if he gets it right at the boxes, he can lead round and make all. Kilara Berb has previously recorded a flying 23.85 over course and distance, a repeat of that would be good enough to take this and the March 23 pup could improve further and take another step forward on the clock.
20:01 Romford
At 8: I’m with the Nathan Hunt trained wide seed DROOPYS KIRA who runs from T6 in the Romford Friday Night 500 Maiden final. The July 22 daughter of Droopys Sydney has caught my eye on her two recent runs at the London Road venue, on both occasions she's tried to anticipate the start and has then broken moderately, if she times it to perfection this evening, she's capable of leading round and once on the bunny she's a pacey performer as her recent 23.86 course and distance trial proves. It is however, a very competitive race with Gaytime Elma looking to land a hat-trick of wins from T2 and heat winner Kohinoor Sally running from T3.
19:39 Nottingham
Over at Nottingham one that's worth noting in the market is March 23 youngster ANNADOWN TOMMY (T5) in the A5 graded race at 7.39 over the standard four-bend 500 metre trip. On Nottingham debut last week following a moderate break Tommy showed nice pace throughout and finished third beaten just over a length, he will come on loads for that run and if he traps a little better this evening, he looks well-drawn to lead out wide and hit the back straight with likely leader Knockglass Seren who runs from T1.
