Star Sports & TRC Greyhound Derby Outright
All eyes on Towcester this evening with the English Greyhound Derby taking centre stage with ten heats live on the Gone To The Dogs YouTube channel from 6.15pm.
Outright betting is available with all major firms plus some specials including fastest sectional which always proves popular amongst the greyhound community.
The Graham Holland trained Irish Derby champion Bockos Diamond heads the outright market at a general 9/2 with the MWD Partnership owned and Mark Wallis trained Proper Heiress in next at 11/1, she's a flying machine and having won the Winter Derby, Kent Plate and more recently the Juvenile she is sure to tempt a few in at those type of odds.
One that could go well at a price is the Maxine Locke trained August 23 youngster HEADFORD ASHER who caught my eye recently when winning the Hove Puppy Cup showing electric middle gears, he looks and absolute flying machine and could be anything at this point.
Another worth a small each way play is LENNIES DESIRE from the Paul Hennessy kennel. The
December 22 son of Signet Ace stays on strong, he’s the type to keep qualifying and could be a spot of value at around the 33/1 mark.
HEADFORD ASHER – 0.50 Point E/W at 33/1 (Bet365, Skybet & PricedUp) Place terms, ¼ odds 6 places
LENNIES DESIRE – 0.50 Point E/W at 33/1 (Bet365) Place terms, ¼ odds 6 places
6.51 Towcester
This evening one that should go well is well-drawn solo wide seed TIFFIELD TARQUIN who lines up from T6 in heat two of the Star Sports Greyhound Derby at 6.51. Tarquin made the Juvenile Classic final over course and distance so is clearly at home around Towcester, if he traps in best fashion this evening, he can lead off the second bend and kick for home. The recent 28.76 c&d trial reads well, if he gets it right at the boxes the 15/8 on offer from Bet365 will look huge value. IGOBF National Puppy champion Untold Rufiyaa rates as the danger from T3, if he gets it right at the boxes, he will be a major player here, he can’t afford a tardy exit though with Beatties Razl (T4) moving rails at lid rise.
6.51 Towcester – TIFFIELD TARQUIN (T6) - 1 Point win at 15/8
8.22 Towcester
Heat five at 7.46 looks at the mercy of Proper Heiress (T4), William Hill go 4/7 about the Mark Wallis trained September 22 son of Droopys Sydney and that's sure to tempt a few in, especially those looking at playing doubles and trebles this evening.
At 8.06 in heat six all eyes will be on outright favourite Bockos Diamond out in T6, if he gets it right
at the boxes and leads round it’ll be all over bar the shouting for his supporters. In a competitive heat look out for Wicky Ned who lines up from T2 for Newcastle based trainer Jimmy Fenwick. Ned is no back number here, he recently recorded a smart 28.66 trial over course and distance following a flashy 3.95 sectional, a repeat of that could see him take the inside line and hit the back straight with Bockos Diamond.
Heat seven at 8.22 can go to the Maxine Locke trained middle seed DROOPYS PREFECT who runs from T5. Romford raider Droopys Prefect looks well-drawn here to lead round and make all from his plot draw, the key to the race is the break, it’s imperative that he traps level and then paces up into the corner and leads off the second bend.
8.22 Towcester – DROOPYS PREFECT (T5) - 1 Point win at 9/4
