After coming close with two seconds yesterday, Michael Smyth has given us his three best bets for Sunday at Oxford.
3.49 Oxford
3.49 Oxford – GAGAS MERRY (T6) - 0.50 Point win
At 3.49 the BetGoodwin Stayers final can go to well-drawn solo wide seed GAGAS MERRY in T6. The local runner has a quick-away-made-all success on her card in 39.37 and a repeat of that on the bunny would put her bang there this afternoon. In a very competitive final, and one with plenty of early pace on show, the break and run into the corner will prove vital, lead round and its race on. Eagles Respect is a class act and rates as a huge danger from T3. Ballymac Madgie (T1) and Ballymac Loca (T2) are both capable of taking this if on a going day.
4.07 Oxford
4.07 Oxford – NEWINN BLISS (T6) – 0.50 Point win
The BetGoodwin Ladies open race at 4.07 can go to NEWINN BLISS from T6. The Angie Kibble-trained Swindon raider caught the eye over course and distance last week when finishing second. The October 2022 daughter of Newinn Session broke moderately then showed electric early pace to lead round and ran well until caught the third bend.
BetMGM UK
This afternoon, if Newinn Bliss can ping the lids, she could find herself a couple clear at the first bend and then it's race on. Coppice Lottie (T1) beat the selection last time out, showing nice back straight pace and would be a danger this afternoon granted a clear run.
5.03 Oxford
5.03 Oxford – ALRIGHT TWINKLE (T6) - 1 Point win
The third and final selection this afternoon is ALRIGHT TWINKLE who runs from T6 in heat six of the BetGoodwin Series Maiden Stayers at 5.03. Well-drawn as the solo side seed in the race, Twinkle looks the likely leader and once on the bunny her four-bend pace should see her kick clear of the chasing pack. Stamina is an unknown over this six-bend 650-metre trip at Oxford, but the lightly raced daughter of Droopys Sydney shows no signs of stopping to the drop over the four-bend 450-metre distance, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
