It’s been a long time between drinks for FLECKERL (best price 7-2), but he has shaped a couple of times recently that an overdue success is just around the corner and following a promising performance over today’s C&D last time out, today could well be the day. Slowly away and dropped out from his wide draw 14 days ago, Conor Dore’s charge found himself with plenty to do at halfway but finishing his race off with plenty of zest in the closing stages, he managed to grab himself a slice of the pie in third. Time figure-wise, that display was certainly one of his better ones of late and providing he doesn’t give up too much ground early this time around, there’s every chance the son of Danehill Dancer can pounce late on.

FLEMCARA (NAP) (best price 6-5) shaped with plenty of promise on hurdling debut at Fontwell last time out and although he couldn’t cope with the potentially very smart Kayf Adventure in the later stages, he did more than enough to suggest he has a bright future. A former point winner, Emma Lavelle’s charge seemed to appreciate the step up in trip at the Sussex venue and given that his jockey never once resorted to the whip that day, one can expect a deal of improvement to come now the ball his firmly in his court this afternoon.

BARYE (best price 7-1) has clearly been in quite deep on his last few starts so today’s contest should come as something of a welcome relief from Richard Hughes’ charge is his bid to back on track. Shaping as though just in need of the run first time back this campaign over today’s course, the Archipenko gelding stepped up on that effort when chasing home the progressive Pinzolo at Lingfield next time out (good time figure) and with several in behind going on to frank that form subsequently, a repeat of that level of performance should ensure he’s a player in today’s contest. Running well as could be expected against the likes of all-weather powerhouses Natural Scenery and Watersmeet last time, a return to this flatter, easier track and slightly weaker opposition makes the six-year-old quite an appealing bet at the prices this morning.
