As ever, another competitive renewal to the final of this series, but the one that stands out here based on her recent figures and track form is TELLTHEMNUTTIN (best price 10-1). Runner-up to Rolling Rocket on her first visit to today’s track back in October, the daughter of Shantou went on to run an equally solid race on her return to the Co Kildare venue a month later. Off the back of a 136-day break, William Codd’s inmate posted her best set of figures when running out a comfortable winner of a well-run 3m contest at Wexford last time and with the runner-up, Boru Boy, going on to land a competitive handicap at Cork next time, the form looks totally watertight. To add to the list of positives, Dylan Robinson, who rode her last time, keeps the continuity going in the saddle, and with today’s decent surface very much in her favour, a huge run looks on the cards. Going for his fourth win in this race, Shamiran has to be a consideration despite his poor recent form, while the likes of the improving Close Shave and ever-consistent Black Zero also come into the mix.

Maurice Barnes had a nice winner at Hexham yesterday and there’s every chance that JOVIAL JOEY (best price 7-2) can provide the Cumbrian handler with more success within the space of 24 hours. Since embarking on his new career over fences, the son of St Jovite has shown a fair level of form and following his breakthrough victory at Musselburgh back in December, he’s gone on to hit the board against some useful novices. His latest effort when third behind Ash Park back at the same venue could have been bettered had he not got involved in an unnecessary duel for the lead with Mister Kit and if can be ridden with a little more restraint this time around, he’s more than capable of going close in a race of this nature.

FAYONAGH (NAP) (best price 2-1) produced one of the most amazing and unlikely victories you’ll ever see at this year’s Festival and she gets her opportunity to prove that victory was no flash in the pan. Missing the break and finding herself detached in last at halfway, Gordon Elliot’s mare not only made up the lost ground over the course of the 2m journey, she had enough quality and stamina to gun her field down up the hill to in the end score with a bit in hand. Providing she breaks on terms here this afternoon, it will take a good horse to lower her colours. Someday, having missed the Festival bumper due to a late injury scare looks the main threat representing a team in tremendous heart of late.
