Most of tonight’s field have taken turns to beat each other in the lead-up to the finale, so trying to work out which one is going to come out on top is a bit of a headache for punters, however, both ICE AGE (best price 10-1) and MAJOR PUSEY (best price 16-1) have run to a decent standard each time they’ve shipped up at the Berkshire track this season and are worth playing at their respective morning odds. The former has been involved in all of the big speed figure contests over the C&D this campaign, so he will be accustomed with the pace they are likely to go this evening more than most. Indeed, his latest effort when lowering the colours of Major Pusey here 14 days ago was his best ever performance on the numbers and providing he can run to a similar level here tonight there’s no reason why he won’t give another solid account.
The latter does like to rip along at the head of the affairs, but not even he could cope with Jordan Sport at Newmarket last time who left a vapour trail on the July course that evening. John Gallagher’s charge has, however, posted two very big speed figures of his own here this season in victory and defeat and he, too, looks slightly overpriced on the pick of his very best form.
PANSTARR (NAP) (best price 13-8) has proven herself to be a pretty destructive force when being left alone to her own devices and following another all-thee-way success at Gowran Park the other night, Jim Bolger’s charge is fancied to score in similar fashion for the third time this season. Prior to that relentless display at the Co Kilkenny track, the daughter of Pivotal ground her opposition into submission over today’s C&D three starts ago and with tonight’s small field ideal for her run-style, this game front runner should prove difficult to catch on ground that will suit better than most.
MISS CONWAY (best price 2-1) has struck up a real affinity for today’s track and she’s taken to complete a hat trick with seemingly plenty in her favour. Forced to dig deep when last victorious over the C&D two starts ago, the form of that race has been endorsed by the likes of Martiloo and Bestwork since and going on to advertise her own wellbeing by winning away from her favourite Cumbrian track next time out at Market Rasen only strengthens her claims on her return visit here this evening.
