Prior to that below-par effort 21 days ago, Luca Cumani’s filly was quite impressive when she bossed a useful field from start to finish at Chelmsford (clocked smart closing sectionals) and if she’s ridden in a similar positive vein here this afternoon, she could take some pegging back off the front.

Hidden Oasis could turn out to be well-treated on his handicap bow, but he might well have to be to contend with STEPOVER (NAP) (best price 3-1), who has proven herself several times over that today’s C&D suits her down to a tee. A convincing winner here back in June, the daughter of Midnight Legend did absolutely nothing wrong on her follow up bid four months later, she was just unlucky to bump into a well handicapped runner in the shape of Undefined Beauty who has gone on to advertise the form with a smooth success under a penalty at Sedgefield last week. In a race run at a true gallop, Alex Hales’ inmate was noted travelling as well as any turning for home and although she went hard all the way to the line and beat the rest of the field comprehensively, she couldn’t match the winner’s turn of foot after the last. Although in an ideal world she could do with a decent pace to shoot at and that’s not guaranteed to be the case here, hopefully she will have a good plan B to call upon.

PLY’s (best price 6-4) trajectory has risen sharply since being gelded and following two impressive victories over today’s course of late, the final of this series looks well within his grasp. Roger Charlton’s inmate made a mockery of a mark of 75 when bolting up in a very time over 1m 2f on his first visit to the Sunbury venue back in September and even off his revised rating of 81 he still suggested he had tons in hand with another display of total authority a few weeks later. On both occasions, the son of Dubawi has exhibited a start turn of foot off the back of strong fractions and with today’s contest likely to be run at the sort of pace that play into his strengths, he’s fancied to justify his position in the market.
