RAMSES DE TEILLEE (NAP) (best price 6-4) has easily shown the best level of form over fences so far to date and, given that one of those performances came over today’s C&D, he appears to hold a significant advantage over his two main market rivals. Having his first start over the larger obstacles, David Pipe’s inmate jumped with a fair degree of accuracy back in November and even though he was heavily eased in the closing stages once miles clear, he still posted a notable speed figure on testing ground. Although he was beaten fair and square when a short-priced favourite at Fontwell last time out, the horse that lower his colours that day, Get On The Yager, went on to boost the form when capturing the Rowland Merrick at Wetherby next time out. Of his two main opponents this afternoon, Impulsive Star looked a little reluctant at times before eventually squandering an uncontested lead at Catterick last time out, while Rons Dream was pretty unconvincing on her chase debut over a year ago.
14.30 Lingfield
HUMAN NATURE (best price 9-2) was a very heavily backed favourite in a similar contest here last week, but things just didn’t quite pan out as well as his supporters would have hoped and whether it was just down the track or the jockey switch, he’s got to be given at least one more chance to put matters right on his return visit. Held up on the inside from his favoured number one stall, Stuart Williams’ inmate unfortunately just got done for a bit of toe coming down the hill and having lost valuable track position at a vital juncture, he couldn’t quite reel back the leaders in the short home straight. That said, he did finish off his race with plenty of wind left in his sails and with young Milly Naseb back on board, who has a good record on the Kodiac gelding, the five-year-old makes plenty of each-way appeal at the morning odds.
19.30 Dundalk
Having made it 3-3 over tonight’s C&D with another convincing display two weeks ago, Invincible Ryker is a worthy favourite to keep up his excellent work since switching to the all-weather, but for those that took part in the gamble on ALCATRAZ (best price 9-2), they will feel – quite rightly- that there’s unfinished business to be had with Richard O’Brien’s inmate and he rates the percentage each-way alternative. Having just his second start for new connections since switching from George Baker in the UK, the son of Camacho was punted into 4-1 second favouritism on the off, but unfortunately his chance of pulling off the coup went up in smoke within seconds of the gates opening as he totally missed the break to the tune of 10 lengths. Given the deficit he lost, he did remarkably well to get within three lengths of the winner at the line and with a level break this evening, the six-year-old clearly has the ability to be competitive against this level of opponent.
