CARNWENNAN (NAP) (best price 3-1) has only had the five career starts, but he’s pretty much improved with each run and following his breakthrough success at Nottingham last time out, he’s taken to continue his progression over a trip he should really thrive. Too green to do himself justice over today’s course back in June, the son of Cacique shaped with a good deal more encouragement at Lingfield on his next start when, keeping on well from the back of the field, he stayed on nicely into a creditable third behind the useful Ben Vrackie. Two useful efforts on the turf ensued, but it was his latest performance at the Midland venue 28 days ago that really does make him a standout candidate back on the all-weather surface. In a well-run contest, Charlie Fellows’ three-year-old showed plenty of stamina and determination in the latter stages to get the job done and with the fourth, Graceful Lady (won by 10 lengths at Newbury next time), and eleventh, Thomas Blossom, both winning easily since, the form rates as solid as you like for the grade. Quality-wise, the race in question at the Colwick Park track looks a million miles stronger than the one Divin Bere scrambled home in on his return after a long break and the selection is strongly fancied to confirm that opinion off only a 4lb higher rating hike.

YAA MOUS (best price 5-2) arrives here in a proper rich vein of form and she’s fancied to complete the hat trick with tonight’s step up in trip seen as a positive. Well suited by the strongly-run affair which enabled her to show off her skills at Leicester two starts ago, the daughter of Farhh was even more impressive returning to an all-weather surface at Chelmsford last time out when she stayed on powerfully in the latter stages to score with plenty on hand. As both on these two victories have been achieved in fast times, there is a slight question mark over her claims if the go slow here tonight, but providing the gallop is an honest one (Welsh Lord likely to go on at a decent pace), then Mike Murphy’s in-form filly rates the one to beat.
