Two strong fancies from Andy Holding this Tuesday.

Present Value easily brings the best form to the party courtesy of his Chepstow victory, but the fact his stable hasn’t had a winner for a while now (26 days and 29 runners), breeds a little bit of uncertainty about taking a short price, so the safest policy given that slight doubt is to side with DANNY WHIZZBANG (best price 7-2) at the available morning odds.
A winner of and Irish point-to-point last April, Paul Nicholls’ gelding made his debut in a well-contested novice event at Hereford in November and it what turned out to be a fairly a proper test in the conditions, he stayed on strongly to repel the persistent challenge of Master Card. Still green throughout most of that contest, there should be more to come from the son of Getaway and providing he’s fit enough to do himself justice on his comeback run, there’s no reason why this sizeable chasing type won’t give a good account.

DECORATION OF WAR (NAP) (best price 13-8) was denied a clear run at a crucial stage here last week and even though it’s hard to be dogmatic and say whether he would have won for certain, he must be given a chance to make amends.
Well-supported on all four starts since joining Michael Appleby, the son of Declaration Of War hasn’t yet hit the heights new connections would have expected, but on the evidence of his run over the C&D 10 days ago, at least there’s more cause for optimism. Held up going well behind the speed as the field turned for home, jockey Ali Rawlinson was just about to deliver his mount what appeared to be a potent challenge, the door immediately slammed in his face. Forced to check and lose all momentum, the four-year-old was allowed to drift home in his own time once his winning chance had gone, leaving the impression that he would have gone very close to winning but for the interference. A dual winner for previous connections over tonight’s trip, everything looks set fair for him to put up another bold display on a surface he clearly relishes.
