Global Tango responded well to the first-time blinkers at Kempton last time out, but whether the headgear works again for the second time is open to debate so FIELD GUN (best price 7-2) is taken as the more solid option at the morning prices.

Having his first outing since leaving William Haggas, the son of More Than Ready was strongly fancied to make an immediate impact for new connections and so it proved, as he battled on bravely to land a competitive little contest at Chelmsford over seven furlongs. In a well-run affair where there was no hiding place, Stuart Williams’ gelding was made to work harder than anticipated after travelling well throughout and even though he didn’t have buckets in hand at the line, the fact that he still managed to grind out a result augurs well for his future prospects.

Having come from a background of three solid performances over six-furlongs, today’s drop back in trip shouldn’t prove a stumbling block and with Adam Kirby booked to do the steering, confidence is high that he can provide his in-form handler with another winner.

ARABIC CULTURE (NAP) (best price 11-4) ran out a ready winner over tonight’s C&D two starts ago and following a slightly unlucky effort on his repeat bid at Lingfield last time out, Grant Tuer’s gelding is strongly fancied to make amends and get back on the winning trail. 

Campaigned largely over 1m2f when in the care of Jamie Osbourne, the five-year-old proved a revelation when upped in trip on his third start for new connections, so much so that he managed to post a very fast time for the grade. Brought out quickly in order to take advantage of his old mark, the son of Lonhro got caught out by a combination of several factors at the Surrey venue – namely a wide draw and the drop back in distance – but given the way he finished off his race after suffering interference in running at a crucial stage pointed towards a horse still on the up.

Returning to the scene of his previous victory, this big, long-striding gelding will be more at home around the galloping nature of the Dunstall Park venue and even though he faces fairly stiff competition from the similarly improving Singing Sheriff, it will be disappointing if he doesn’t put up a bold show.
