INDEFATIGABLE (NAP) (best price 7-5) ran a tremendous race in the Mares Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival back in March and even though she’s now got to go and run to similar level over an extra three furlongs, she’s fancied to prove equal to the task.

Like so many others who came to the fore at a massive price in that odd race (first three home 50-1, 66-1 and 40-1), Paul Webber’s mare ran way beyond her market expectation but as the time figure indicated, the form shouldn’t necessarily be underestimated. Indeed, even the fourteenth home, Elusive Belle, has already given the contest a shot in the arm with a win next time out and even though she faces the potential fresher legs from her main market rival The Cull Bank, the daughter of Schiaparelli’s class is taken to gain the day.

As we’ve seen already this season, Alan King really means business with his early runners on the Flat and BERINGER (best price 9-4) is fancied to keep the good run going for the Barbury Castle handler.

Strongly-fancied for the Lincoln on the opening day of the campaign, the son of Sea The Stars found himself with plenty to do at halfway on Town Moor, but in finishing off his race best of all, he ran on strongly to gain an unlikely slot on the podium. Considering that was his first outing for 189 days, the four-year-old gelding is entitled to improve for that initial outing and with today’s long, galloping straight likely to suit, he’s fancied to deliver a late knockout blow.

It may turn out to be significant that William Buick has chosen to ride Mubtasim instead of his old partner ON THE WARPATH (best price 6-1), but either way, Charlie Appleby’s gelding deserves the utmost respect following his recent success over his stable mate out in debut.

Held up just behind the speed over the 7f trip in Meydan, the four-year-old just took a while to hit top stride down the home straight but once momentarily headed by Mubtasim a furlong out, it was from that point he really upped his game and steadily drew clear. Although the son of Declaration Of War has yet to set foot on the Rowley Mile, he seemed to act well on the undulations of Goodwood last season and this ever-consistent chestnut is likely to give his true running on ground that will suit.
