JEANIE B (best price 7-1) ran with plenty of promise on her debut in an above-average contest at Salisbury and she looks more than capable of holding her own in this slightly lesser race on paper granted just normal improvement.

Drawn in the centre of the 14-dtrong field at the Wiltshire venue, the daughter of Bated Breath unfortunately got shuffled back and forced out wide in the early stages so by halfway she wasn’t exactly in the ideal spot. To her great credit, therefore, to keep on plugging away to finish a credit fourth behind two potentially smart juveniles wasn’t a bad effort first time off the shelf and it’s also worth noting that her final three furlong split came out similar to the one posted by the 82-rated Lost In Time, who took the other two-year-old contest over the same C&D. Not too badly drawn today, the stiff five furlongs should also suit her well and hailing from a stable with a 28% strike rate with their juveniles at the track in recent t5imes, Mick Channon’s filly will hopefully be good enough to justify each-way support.
