To finish a close-up third having raced around the swamp is testimony to his current wellbeing and even though the formbook says technically he has a bit to find with his old rival Summer Dream, the real truth of the matter is that he easily ran the better of the pair given their respective circumstances.

The race won by Total Commitment turned out to be an exceptionally good one based on the speed figures and even though the formbook says REVOLUTIONISE (best price 11-4) has a bit to find in order to turn around the tables with his old rival, he’s fancied to bridge the gap on several fronts.

Firstly, the draw put Roger Varian’s gelding on the back foot in the early stages forcing him to switch from his wide post and race towards the rear of the field and secondly, he was then pushed out in lane eight to make his challenge down the home straight. Although he made a bold fist to whittle down the deficit late on, he couldn’t quite get on terms with the more handily placed winner, but his performance at least proved he remains in top form and backed up his previous C&D win. Better drawn this evening in stall four, hopefully the son of Lope De Vega can race a little closer to the speed and have his main market rival in sight and if so, his useful turn of foot down the straight can prove to be the telling factor.

There’s no denying Arabist has the look of a potentially well-handicapped horse off a mark of 81 on all-weather debut, but preference is for ALL YOURS (best price 5-1) who already has proven C&D form in the book.

Not only was the time figure very good, the runner-up and fourth have both gone on to boost the form since and with a nice low draw this evening, Sean Curran’s gelding can hopefully track the speed around the inner before being delivered with a well-timed challenge at the business end.
