Once again a little slow out of the gates, Russ Donohoe’s gelding found himself at the tail of the field as the pack turned for home, but in doing some good work in the home straight, he managed to pass all bar Rockview Roman to finish a very creditable second. As the third horse home, No Trouble, has gone on to endorse the form with a victory here on Friday, his performance rates even higher and with today’s extra trip likely to play more into his strengths, the six-year-old can reward each-way support.

SABRINA FAIRCHILD (best price 5-1) left the impression she was a shade unfortunate over today’s C&D last time and she’s fancied to confirm that view on her return visit.

Modestly drawn for starters in gate 12, the daughter of Elnadim wasn’t in the greatest of positions turning for home and, to add salt into the wound, she met interference at a crucial stage which ultimately cost her dear. Once out in the clear, however, she came home to good effect to finish a never-nearer third to the in-form Bellick and even though she will no doubt have to be on her A-game to turn the tables around with her old rival, a better rub of the green this time around means she might just be able to bridge the gap.

STORM AHEAD (NAP) (best price 5-2) was quite impressive when having a strong pace to shoot at over tonight’s C&D last time out and with a similar scenario likely to ensue thanks to his old rival Michelle Strogoff in the line-up, he has every chance of repeating the dose.

Held up towards the rear here 15 days ago, Tim Easterby’s inmate still had plenty to do as the field exited the back straight, but running on strongly in the final two furlongs, he wore down his opponents to score going away. Time-wise, the performance also deserved plenty of merit and, with the likes of Scofflaw (won) and Kaser (third) boosting the form since, the race looks a totally believable one for a Class 3 handicap by the track standards. Unlikely to be as far behind at halfway this time because of tonight’s smaller field, the son of Iffraaj should be able to cut down any leeway that the front runners are afforded and he rates a decent bet to do so.
