AMAZING AMAYA (best price 5-1) may have caused a 50-1 shock here last time out, but there was little to fault about her performance and with another nice favourable low draw again in stall 3 (low numbers have had an advantage on the straight course for some time), Derek Shaw’s mare can go in again.

Having her first start on the fibresand at the Midland venue, probably didn’t deserve to be such a big price on the basis she was housed over on the best strip of ground in stall one and so it proved, as she latched on to the far rail and came with a withering late run to get up close home. Time figure-wise, the daughter of New Approach ended up posting numbers well above average for the grade and up against a similar cast on her return visit 14 days on, she rates a decent proposition at the prices.

LIAMBA (NAP) (best price 9-4) has been holding her own at a much higher level than today’s contest of late and she’s strongly fancied to take advantage of a drop in class back over her optimum trip.

A C&D here back in May, David O’Meara’s filly has been in fairly consistent form since and although she’s failed to add to her winning tally, there have been plenty of notable placed returns at the Midlands venue. Prior to not staying the seven-furlong trip when ridden handily here last time out, the daughter of Equiano had featured heavily in a very strongly-run affair over a furlong shorter a month ago and it’s that smart piece of form that stands out in a race of today’s nature. Even the run the time before behind the likes of subsequent winner Young John and Airglow would be good enough to take today’s prize, if repeated, and from a nice handy draw right in the middle of the pack, the four-year-old can put her vital course knowledge to good use against the next two in the betting (Lightening Charlie and Our Charlie Brown), who have yet to step foot on the fibresand surface.
