Andy Holding has two tips for today's racing, including a NAP at Stratford.
14:30 Stratford
ATLANTIC STORM (NAP) (best price 5-2) ran a cracker in a much better race than the one he tackles here this afternoon on his return to action at Southwell 20 days ago and now revisiting the scene of many of his best performances in the past, Rob Summers’ gelding is fancied to score for the fourth time at the Midland venue.
Sent off an unconsidered 33-1 shot in a competitive Class 3 handicap at the Midland track, the eight-year-old had little trouble going with the strong pace and although he couldn’t quite match the likes of winner Issac Wonder and the well-backed Azzuri close home, he kept on well in third to finish nicely clear of the rest. Despite that solid effort, the son of September Storm gets the chance to race off a 3lb lower mark here this afternoon and with conditions almost identical to those which saw him capture his last prize here back in September, everything looks in place for a repeat of that success.
16:25 Sandown
One or two interesting fillies are expected to make a huge leap forward from their initial performances and one of those, PERFECT SUNRISE (best price 4-1), can proved she learnt more than enough on her debut to piece it altogether second time around.
Relatively easy to back despite hailing from a stable more than capable of readying one first time out, James Tate’s filly made life even more harder for herself by missing the break and, as a result, being well behind by halfway, but it was noticeable she was able to make some nice late headway without being unduly punished and that augurs well for her prospects here tonight. With the first two home, Caroline Dale and Mahale, giving the race at the Berkshire venue plenty of substance courtesy of their previous exploits at Royal Ascot, it’s clear the daughter of Oasis Dream was up against some fair benchmarks 15 days, and with seemingly nothing of that calibre in tonight’s contest, she has every chance of making her presence felt granted just normal improvement.
