DARK SIDE PRINCE (best price 5-2) has taken well to today’s surface on the evidence of his two starts on the fibresand and he looks booked to go well again if he runs to a similar level.

Third on his first outing at the Midland venue back in October, the son of Equiano went one place better on his return visit when runner-up to the in-form Lord Of The Glen over the same C&D. Looking at the numbers he posted that day, it’s noticeable that not only was his overall time slightly better than the one achieved by one of today’s main rivals Ustath, their sectional times from three out were identical, so based on those findings, it makes sense to play Jessica Macey’s gelding at the bigger price in the hope he can break well and hold his position down the centre of the track.

AMAZING AMAYA (best price 8-1) was entitled to need her first outing for 236 days but with that all-important run under her belt, she can add to the list of positive results she’s gathered at today’s venue over the last year or so.

Interestingly, her best three performances over today’s C&D – including her only career win – have all come from when she’s been drawn low towards the far side, so being draw 10 of 10 up the nearside rail, was also a contributory factor into why she failed to make the frame here 14 days ago. When she did manage to get her head in front she was drawn 1, the same as this afternoon, and with her two main market rivals and likely pace angles, Bluella and Loulin, drawn right next to her, she should get the tow into the race she needs over on the favoured part of the track.
