Well, she didn’t have to wait too long with her breakthrough coming just a month later and with her manner of success and numbers stacking up nicely in the context of today’s race, the five-year-old is expected to give her running over a trip that should suit. 

MOOHAREEBA (best price 10-3) was unlucky to bump into an above-average debutante in the shape of Affwonn here last time out and although she faces two tricky opponents on her return visit, she’s fancied to put her vital track knowledge to good use. 

Promising on her debut here back in March when staying on nicely in the closing stages following a slow start, John Gosden’s filly was a good deal more alert second time around as she jumped well to make the running, but unfortunately she ended up being a sitting duck for the winner who came and picked her pocket lat5e on. That said, the winner needed run run 22 and change to gun her down in the final furlong and with the overall time also very good for a race of its kind, a repeat of something similar should see her go close to breaking her maiden tag.

Well-backed beforehand on just her third handicap start, the daughter of Fame And Glory made good headway to join the leaders rounding the home turn after being held up way off the pace and with a relentless run that took her into the lead approaching two out, she maintained the momentum all the way to the line to off the persistent challenge of the smooth-travelling Paula’s Prayer. Clocking a fair time figure for the grade, she proved that a well-run two miles on heavy ground suits her well and with her useful conditional likely to tread a similar path out wide to find the better ground just like he did here 43 days ago, the five-year-old will be given every opportunity to follow up.

DE VEGAS KID (best price 13-2) once again proved his suitability for tonight’s venue with his second victory at Dunstall Park last time out and with the likelihood of another sound pace in the offing, Tony Carroll’s gelding should have plenty to say regards the final outcome. 

Unable to feature in a whole host of seven-furlong contests given his hold-up run style, the son of Lope De Vega was seen to much better effect over tonight’s one-lap mile 29 days ago when he came through in the latter stages of a strongly run race to score close home. Likely to be given a similarly patient ride on his return visit, the six-year-old chestnut makes a fair bit of each-way appeal with most firms offering four places.
