14:40 Lingfield

TRIXIE WATERBURY (NAP) (best price 7-2) caused a little bit of a stir here last week when winning at 33-1, but based on the overall time figure and more importantly the fact she defied the coffin box in stall 14, there’s every reason to believe there was no fluke about the result and she may be capable of repeating the dose.

Clearly a little bit of a madam due to the fact she has to be walked down to post, her keenness to get on with the job backfired on her when setting foot on today’s course for the first time earlier in the month, as she faded inside the final furlong after getting hooked up in a needless joist for the early lead. Ridden with plenty more restraint back over the same C&D eight days ago, the end product turned out to be a good deal more favourable as she swept by her field turning into the home straight and her eventual two-and-three-quarter length winning margin was a fair reflection of her superiority. Having inadvertently stumbled across the perfect way to ride the daughter of Baltic King, hopefully Luke Morris will employ similar tactics again this afternoon and if so, she should prove heard to beat.
