Our horse racing expert Andy Holding has one tip for today's action.
A decidedly modest day’s racing and the only one catching the eye of this writer is YAGOOD (NAP) (best price 9-4) in this staying contest.
In spanking good form since the season began, Joseph Parr’s gelding has managed to win four of his seven starts and on the evidence of his latest effort over today’s course, his progression shows no sign of slowing down. Despite only a small field, Can Can Girl made sure is was a proper test at the two-mile trip and that strong gallop really played into the strengths of the son of Teofilo as he powered his way to the front when all around him collapsed at the two-furlong pole. In total command thereafter, the five-year-old wasn’t fully extended as he hit the line, and to put the icing on the cake of his performance, the winning time figure was by far and away the best one furlong-per-furlong on the seven-race card. Not totally smashed up by the assessor despite that romp, he does, however, face a slightly sterner test of late by finding himself in Class 5 company for the first time, but as the numbers suggest, he certainly deserves a crack at a better race. Whether the pace will be as strong as it was here 12 days ago can be open to question, but with Koi Dodville in the line-up, hopefully it won’t be a complete dawdle, and with the only unknown being his ability to be as effective on today’s slower ground, he can provide his in-form handler yet another winner (5 from last 15 runners have obliged).
