Summer’s Knight will be a popular choice, who added to his tally at Yarmouth a few weeks ago, but REVEREND HUBERT (best price 7-2) wasn't far behind the former when fourth in a valuable Haydock handicap in July and is weighted to reverse the form on today’s better terms.
He was unlucky to not go close on his penultimate outing at Doncaster, where he looked to be coming with a strong challenge inside the final furlong until getting badly hampered and, in the end, proceeded to complete the rest of the without being asked a question and ran a good deal better than his finishing position indicated. He was a couple of places behind Summer’s Knight last time but was only headed near the finish having been in front at the furlong pole and is weighted to gain revenge here with the smaller-field scenario sure to suit better. This represents a drop in class too and, with plenty in his favour, this progressive stayer appeals most at the expected prices and should be very competitive with improvement to come.

SHE DO (best price 4-1) ran with credit in a better race than this last time out, as well as placing in a valuable handicap at Royal Ascot the time before that and, with Callum Shepherd reunited with her, she’s strongly fancied to be in the shake-up in this grade with a good chance of taking the spoils.
She has form figures of 2122 when partnered by Callum Shepherd in her career and ran a tremendous race to finish fourth in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot despite hating the heavy ground and tackling one-mile for the first time in her career. She was in the firing line for a long way, showing plenty of early speed and that form is by far the strongest on display. The assessor has eased her mark a pound too and, while she has to concede weight to some in-form rivals, Roger Varian’s filly will be better suited to the return to six-furlongs and can give the favourite Silent Flame plenty to think about.

CLUB WEXFORD (best price 15-2), trained by Roger Fell, has posted some excellent efforts in defeat this term and, now eased into class-6 company for the first time from a career-low mark, as well as being the class act of this field, this ten-year-old ought to be better than this grade and is the standout each-way bet in the finale at the Easy Yorkshire venue.
He has slowly worked his way back to form this term and is effectively 23Ib lower than when last successful, too. It was only last year that he placed off marks between 86-90 in a pair of class-3 events and has travelled better than most the last two times, including at Ripon last-time-out, where he hit the front a furlong from the finish and kept on at the one pace to not be beaten that far once headed. There was plenty to like about that performance in defeat and, now that the handicapper has dropped him a further couple of pounds with Jason Hart back in the saddle, allied to being in this grade for the first time, the top-weight should go close to winning this after a series of near-misses with his trainer in great form, too, to further enhance the confidence in his chances.

Shane Foley and Jessica Harrington are in tremendous form of late and the once highly-regarded TAIPAN (best price 11-2) could be the answer to the Vinnie Roe Stakes having been highly tried this year.
He was ridden too aggressively when last spotted and is better than that, while his earlier form would give him outstanding claims in this company, especially his sixth in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot on his only previous attempt at this trip, where he would have finished a closer with a clear run. He’s not had much luck since winning impressively on debut but his earlier seasonal form behind Bolshoi Ballet and Mac Swiney reads well in the context of today’s event as the pair just mentioned have tasted success at the highest-level since to advertise the form to a further extent. The cheekpieces will be applied to, which seems a positive move, and the combination of his trainers form, this extreme distance and some of the strongest form in the locker, should be the contributing factor to him finally going close in a pattern-class event.
