The Roger Charlton trained Boltaway (best priced at 11/8) is 3/3 in handicaps and this progressive colt should hold strong claims of making it four in a row in this handicap. The son of Dubawi ran three times in novice races over a mile before successfully making the transition to handicaps when upped in trip to 1m2f.

Boltaway has always stayed on well at the end of his races so this step up in trip to 1m4f looks sure to suit and despite a 5lb rise for his latest victory, this Juddmonte colt should prove hard to beat. The Mark Johnston trained Kings Prince is respected in first time blinkers but should give the perfect tow into the race for Boltaway and I expect him to continue his progression in this race.

This looks a competitive 6f handicap but preference goes to the Charles O’Brien trained Big Gossey (best priced at 14/1). The four-year-old comes into the race in form having finished 4th in the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh and 2nd at Naas last time. The handicapper has dropped the gelding 1lb for his latest run but now returns to Dundalk where he has a good record.

The son of Gutaifan has two course wins to his name with his latest victory coming off a mark of 85 in February. He was only beaten ¾ length off a mark of 90 in March over 5f and therefore looks well handicapped on his return to 6f off a mark of 89. He is well drawn in Stall 2 and looks sure to outrun his odds with four places on offer.

The Johnny Murtagh trained Safecracker (best priced at 9/4) has strong form in the maidens and looks well handicapped off a mark of 86 on his handicap debut. The son of Golden Horn finished a length behind the Aidan O’Brien trained Interpretation at the Curragh on his penultimate start and that rival has boosted that form since with two wins at Leopardstown including in a listed race on his latest start. He will now be rated nearly 110 so Safecracker looks extremely well handicapped off an opening mark of 86.

Safecracker got off the mark in a maiden last time over this course and distance when he defeated the Joseph O’Brien trained Rollet by 3 ¼ lengths. Despite being drawn in Stall 11, I expect Niall McCullagh to get him in a good position and that should mean he can make a successful handicap debut.
