JORDAN ELECTRICS (best price 6-1) only joined this yard last summer but has really excelled since returning from an absence in which he recently made it three wins in only seven starts for his current boss when scoring over C&D 17 days ago and, although five-pound higher in this slightly better race, this son of Dandy Man is dangerous to dismiss as he bids for the hat-trick.

He duly obliged when scoring at Ayr on his penultimate outing despite his rider losing his irons late on before comfortably justified favouritism when winning over track and trip when last spotted, seeing off four rivals with plenty to spare. He’s up five-pounds, but remains well treated on historical form and, with positive tactics likely to be applied, everything points to this highly-progressive sprinter putting up another bold display from stall ten under Cam Hardie getting four places.

SOUND OF IONA (best price 6-1) has been shaping up well in stronger events than this of late, including when fourth a big-field handicap at Musselburgh three weeks ago despite getting a poor passage and is one to consider, each-way, from an eight-pound lower mark than when last successful.

Jim Goldie’s mare is used to pitching in decent-looking handicaps and that has been the case in her last four starts, including at Musselburgh in June, where she finished second to the 75-rated Good Luck Fox in a class-4 event from a pound higher mark. She matched that form when a close-up fourth over C&D next time, coming home strongly behind better opposition than today’s despite becoming upset in the stalls at the start. Her latest fourth back there was another good effort in defeat, given the fact she was short of room when attempting to make a possible winning manoeuvre but rattled home to be fourth of 17 and, effectively, the assessor has left her mark unaltered with the combination of the ease in grade here. With plenty of optimism that she will get the splits when required, she ranks as a solid each-way contender at this level.

PACINO (best price 20-1) hasn’t won for over two years and his profile from this year is hardly inspiring, but he’s become dangerously well-handicapped as a result, especially now encountering a class-6 event for only the second time in his career and, with the drop back to seven-furlongs under ideal conditions expected to suit, he makes plenty of each-way appeal with the capabilities of causing an upset if able to discover some of his best form that he achieved last term.

He shaped better than the result at Chester in a better race last time and ran with credit under a big-weight when fourth on his penultimate outing in his only try in this grade at Ayr. That encouraging effort offered hope of a potential revival at some stage this term and he finds himself two-pound lower here with David Nolan in the plate. While he hasn’t been able to land a blow this term, which reflects that in his price odds, he’ll evidently find this easier having been highly tried during his career and I could easily see him running a big race in the moderate affair at a double-figure price

Just the four runners on show in this particular event but the form of DULLA BHATTI (best price 9-4) latest second at Catterick looks the standout piece of structure as both the second and third returned next time out winners) and, with plenty more improvement to reveal now handicapping, Michael Dods’ representative can put that all-important experience to good use in a line-up he should be able to dominate.

He was well beaten on debut at Doncaster, but improved out of all recognition when defying odds of 18/1 at Hamilton second-time-out, quickening up in good style to win by over two-lengths. His second last time was another step up the ladder, as he lost no caste in defeat when conceding five-pounds to Improvised, who won at Epsom next time from a mark of 80 to complete the hat-trick. That said, the horse who was back in third, Yukon Mission, won next time too, so the form has a really strong look to it on that evidence and, with an opening handicap of 79 looking well within reach, he should prove hard to beat under Clifford Lee.
