The John O’Shea trained FLIP MODE (best priced at 7-4) has been in good form on turf this season with form figures of 114141 and he looks to hold strong claims under a penalty in this race. This progressive four-year-old has improved 20lbs from a mark of 52 so far this season but gets to run 4lb “well in” here instead under a 5lb penalty rather than off his revised mark of 72.

Flip Mode has already won twice over this course and distance this season and comes into this race off the back of a victory at Ffos Las over 6f by 4 ¼ lengths. That was in a 0-70 handicap but he instead runs in this 0-65 handicap back down to 5f and I expect him to prove extremely hard to beat for the in-form yard who has had three winners from his previous five runners.

The five-year-old GLAMOROUS CRESCENT (best priced at 3-1) had been badly out of form this season but bounced back to form with a victory at Windsor ten days ago. She had previously dropped down to a career low mark of 46 but won well under Mollie Phillips by two lengths on soft ground last time.

With that being an apprentice handicap, the Christopher Mason trained mare escapes a penalty for this race so actually runs here 6lb “well in” off her revised mark of 52. Glamorous Crescent is a previous course and distance winner on good ground in June 2019 off a mark of 54 so she should handle conditions and be involved in the finish.

The William Haggas stable remains in good form at present with a 35% strike rate in the last two weeks and SPIRIT OF BERMUDA (best priced at 9-2) should be able to keep that good running going. The daughter of Twilight Son has looked progressive this season and has won her two previous starts coming into this race. Having refused to race at Redcar (was upset in the stalls so can be excused) she made all at Leicester under Tom Marquand to win by nearly two lengths. She then followed up in a Class 2 Newmarket on her previous start where she defeated Rising Star in a race that is working out well. The runner-up went on to win a handicap at Musselburgh on her next start, the sixth Professional Window finished a close second on her next start and the eighth Al Saariyah won on her next start.

Therefore, a 3lb rise by the handicapper for that victory should underestimate the claims of Spirit Of Bermuda and the William Haggas trained filly is expected to complete a hat-trick.
