This 0-70 handicap has an unusual look it with the presence of Blue Moonrise under a 12lb penalty but preference goes to the Richard Hughes trained Kath’s Toyboy (best priced at 11/4). The three-year-old had been running consistently well this season in defeat but got off the mark in a first-time visor last time at Brighton when putting in a career-best.

The son of Gregorian won by a widening two lengths over the 5f trip last time and he should hold strong claims off only a 4lb higher mark. Blue Moonrise is respected in his hat-trick bid but he could struggle with a double penalty and preference instead goes to the progressive Kath’s Toyboy under Jim Crowley.

Kath's Toyboy - 1pt @ 11/4

Despite there only being six runners declared for this 0-75 three-year-old handicap, it has a competitive look to it and preference goes to the David Evans trained Portelet Bay (best priced at 9/2). The son of Mayson has looked progressive this season with form figures of 123611 on turf and has improved from a mark of 52 up to 65 in that time.

Portelet Bay comes here chasing a hat-trick following two wins in a visor at both Yarmouth and Bath where his winning distance was ¾ length both times. He only appears to do enough to win which makes him hard to assess for the handicapper and that could mean that the 4lb rise given to him for his latest victory is lenient. He looks worth backing each way against the favourite Maajdah who looks attractively handicapped on her handicap debut.

Portelet Bay - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/2

15:15 Brighton

The Gary Moore stable are in fantastic form at present with six winners from their previous twelve runners and five of those victories coming on the flat rather than over jumps. He saddles Platinum Prince (best priced at 7/2) in this race who has been running consistently well on his previous three starts when placing at Lingfield, Epsom and Brighton.

The four-year-old gelding holds his head high under pressure which raises question marks about his attitude in a finish but is now fitted with a first-time visor which should help him concentrate in a finish. He has been dropped 1lb for his latest 3rd placed finish 18 days ago and I expect an improved performance following a switch in headgear.

Platinum Prince - 1pt @ 7/2
