13:45 Curragh
Jon Riggens (best priced at 13/2) was a winning selection us on his stable debut last time and he looks well treated on his handicap debut. The three-year-old was previously owned and trained by Sean Hennessy (who also bred him) where he finished runner-up in two maiden races at Cork and Tipperary.
The gelding was then sold and transferred to the Eddie Lynam stable where he made a winning stable debut over this course and distance in a 12 runner maiden. He always travelled well throughout the contest and won well by 1 ¼ lengths at the finish. The handicapper was also impressed and re-assessed his handicap mark to 86 which just gets him into this race near the bottom of the weights. The stable have a good record with sprinters so he Jon Riggens can still be expected to improve and looks sure to run well with up to six places on offer.
14:20 Curragh
Five-time Group 1 winner Love (best priced at 6/5) has been beaten on her previous two starts but should prove hard to beat in this race down in class. Last season’s 1000 Guineas and Oaks winner made a winning reappearance at Royal Ascot in the Prince Of Wales’ Stakes over this trip before finishing a close 3rd in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 1m4f behind Adayar and Mishriff.
Love finished well beaten in the Juddmonte International last time at York but now drops down to Group 2 company back against her own sex. She is rated 5lb clear of Thundering Nights and should get back on track in this race.
16:40 Curragh
Twilight Payment (best priced at 4/1) is a six-time course winner at the Curragh with the previous four victories coming over this trip of 1m6f. The eight-year-old comes into this race following a victory in the Group 3 Irish St Leger Trial Stakes where he had the reopposing Emperor Of The Sun, Barrington Court and Amhran Na Bhifiann well behind him.
Search For A Song is respected in her bid for a third win in the race but the lack of a recent run is a concern and preference therefore goes to the Joseph O’Brien trained runner who is extremely consistent at this level and looks sure to hit the frame with up to five places available.
