The Ian Williams trained HEAD ON (best priced at 6-4) returned from a 62 day break to making a winning chasing debut over this course and distance and he should hold strong claims of following up in this race off a 4lb higher mark. The son of Robin Des Champs had previously struggled in novice hurdles but showed improved form when 2nd at Southwell over hurdles on his handicap debut.
Despite winning last time, Head On wasn’t the most fluent over many of the fences and his chance wasn’t helped by jockey Tom O’Brien dropping his whip at the second last fence. Liam Harrison now takes over in this conditional jockeys’ race and he should prove hard to beat off a 4lb higher mark over the same course and distance.

It is easy to see why the William Haggas trained LADY ROCKSTAR (best priced at EVENS) heads the market for this 0-75 handicap and I feel she will prove extremely hard to beat. The daughter of Frankel showed a good level of form in three novice races before finishing 2nd on her handicap debut at Sandown off a mark of 75.
The form of that race is working out well with the winner Arenas Del Tiempo winning at Epsom subsequently and is now rated 12lb higher and the third Thunder Lily, who was a further 3 lengths behind Lady Rockstar at Sandown, winning next time at Chepstow and is now rated 4lb higher. Therefore, Lady Rockstar looks well handicapped being able to run off the same mark of 75 and she should prove hard to beat off top weight in first time blinkers.

The Charlie Hills trained THAKRAH (best priced at 15-8) faces competition from some well bred fillies such as Rakurai, Ramadhaan and Fresh Fancy but should be able to get off the mark at the second attempt if building on her promising debut effort. The daughter of Dubawi travelled extremely well on her debut at Newmarket 17 days ago and looked the biggest danger to the winner Silk Romance before weakening into 4th late on having got tired in the final furlong.
Thakrah still holds an entry for the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile which is less than a month away so she is obviously showing connections enough at home to justify keeping that entry. She is well drawn to get a good position from Stall 2 and she should prove hard to beat under Jim Crowley.
