The Colliers Saves Business Rates Handicap Chase is an interesting small-field affair and, despite having to concede eight-pounds to the Dan Skelton team-member, FAT SAM (best price 4-1) gets the vote to make his presence felt once more.

This lightly-raced seven-year-old failed to complete in his first two starts in this sphere but looked a different proposition when the first-time hood was applied in July, as he scored at Stratford on his penultimate outing with loads in hand and ran well behind subsequent winner Goa Lil back there next time. He did well to finish as close as he did considering he raced keenly throughout and the form has been boosted since by the winner who followed-up over hurdles at Perth last week. Chris Down’s charge is finally putting it all together in this code and, with further improvement appearing as a distinct possibility, he may burst the market leaders collective bubble on this occasion.

Eternal Love displayed plenty of promise on debut when second here but BEAUTIFUL SECRET (best price 2-1) hasn’t been beaten far in both her starts to date and is fancied to take the scalp of Ralph Beckett’s charge at the third time of asking whilst her stable remain in excellent form.

This filly by Invincible Spirit was unlucky to be pipped in the final few strides at Doncaster on debut and despite only finishing third next time, she still ran well to not be beaten that far and should be more than able to adapt to this surface. Eternal Love has to be respected and clearly caught the eye on debut but the first four-home finished in a bunch that day and I feel as though she’ll need more to get the better of the Godolphin participant, who has the vital extra experience, which could prove to be the difference in the outcome of this contest.
