The Paul Nolan trained Mister Bells (best priced at 7/2) has been running well over fences this year and now looks well handicapped on his return to hurdling. The seven-year-old had been performing consistently well with form figures of 1221 before pulling up at Listowel last time after making a bad mistake. He has improved from a mark of 102 up to a mark of 115 in handicap chases but can now run here over hurdles off a mark of 96.
That makes Mister Bells 19lb lower on his return to hurdling and that should make him extremely hard to beat. He finished 2nd at this course in July on similar ground over fences off a mark of 109 so he will handle conditions and should prove hard to beat if coping with the return to smaller obstacles.

This looks a fantastic renewal of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe this year with Godolphin having particularly strong hand. Preference goes to the supposed second-string Hurricane Lane (best priced at 4/1) who is the mount of James Doyle with William Buick deciding to ride the Epsom Derby and King George winner Adayar.
Hurricane Lane has looked extremely progressive this season and despite finishing behind his stablemate in the Epsom Derby (lost two shoes) he has completed a hat-trick of victories since. He was a winning selection for us in the Irish Derby before winning over this course and distance in the Grand Prix de Paris on ‘very soft’ ground by six lengths. Following that win, the son of Frankel was sent off 8/11 for the St Leger at Doncaster where he won comfortably by 2 ¾ lengths from old foe Mojo Star.
Hurricane Lane has no question marks about the track or the ground his proven stamina over further will also be of huge benefit in this race as it is expected to be a truly run race. Bookmakers are offering up to five places on the race and he looks to be the horse you know will run his race and finish in the frame.

Like Mister Bells earlier on the card, Glenquin Castle (best priced at 5/4) looks extremely well handicapped on his return to hurdling and should prove hard to beat. The Martin Brassil trained seven-year-old has improved from a mark of 85 to 108 following his three wins this season and now returns to the smaller obstacles off a mark of 85 which makes him 23lb lower in that code.
Glenquin Castle only finished 9th on his previous hurdles run but that was on his reappearance following a 273 day break so that can be excused and he is expected to maintain his winning sequence in this race.
