MIQUELON (NAP) (best price 7-4) clocked a huge speed figure for the grade over today’s C&D last time out and providing Oisin Murphy can plot a course whereby his mount suffers no interference, the son of Kingman easily has the qualities to repeat the dose.

Just outrun in another strongly-run affair at Chelmsford previously, Archie Watson’s gelding was warm order to make amends here three weeks later and after travelling best throughout, he quickened right away from a competitive field. Clearly more at home on the quicker polytrack surface today’s track provides, the four-year-old could easily have been hit harder than just the 5lb rise in the ratings he was handed post-race and with the distinct possibility of even more to come, he should hopefully get favourite backers off to a flyer.

SWIFT FLIGHT (best price 2-1) has been knocking at the door all season without having much luck in some seriously competitive maidens, but Ken Condon’s gelding has been handed a golden opportunity to finally get the job done and while without for one minute suggesting he’s a remortgage the house job, he still rates a reasonable proposition at the morning odds. 

Undone by a series of either poor draws or not getting the clearest of runs at crucial stages, the three-year-old has certainly cut a frustrated figure at times and his latest effort at the Curragh basically summed up his plight. Noted going well at the halfway stage of a well-contest affair, the son of Fast Company got tangled up in traffic in between the two and the one-furlong marker and even though he finished race off with a degree of purpose, the dye was already cast. Although closing matched with several of these here today, mainly his old pal Notoriously Risky, his favourable high draw under today’s prevailed conditions should help swing the balance of power in his direction. 

ON THE RIGHT TRACK (best price 7-2) has very much lived up to his name in recent times and following a second win of the season at Goodwood last time out, Mark Usher’s gelding can make it three at a track where he’s gone well in the past. 

A slight disappointment when not quite seeing out the 1m6f journey at Salisbury two starts ago, the son of Mukhadram was dropped back to a more suitable trip at the Sussex venue and, in a race which ended up being quite strongly run for the grade, he came through strongly at the business end to score going away at the line. A six-length winner at Chepstow earlier in the campaign over 1m4f, the four-year-old has also enjoyed a bit of success over today’s C&D during last winter and despite being up against two improving three-year-olds here this evening, a return to the tapeta surface should see the likeable stayer bang on the premises.
