Steve Ryder has three selections for Tuesday's racing.
14:05 Leicester
This looks a competitive conditions race but PORSCHE CAVALIER (best priced at 15-8) should prove hard to beat if running up to her mark of 93. The daughter of Cotai Glory finished 4th on her first two starts in Ireland before winning on her stable debut at Sandown in July.
Following that victory, the Robyn Brisland trained filly has contested a listed race at Newbury where she finished only beaten 2 ¾ lengths before finishing a close 4th in the Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury last time. Porsche Cavalier was only beaten 1 ½ lengths that day earning her a rating of 93 and if she were to run up to that level then she will prove extremely hard to beat with William Buick riding for the first time.
15:30 Punchestown
There is no doubt that Eric Bloodaxe is the most likely winner of this maiden hurdle following his runs in bumpers but at the prices I feel the selection has to be CHINX OF LIGHT (best priced at 11-4). The Barry Fitzgerald trained five-year-old outran odds of 66/1 to finish 2nd on his debut over this course and distance in March and the form of that contest is working out well. The third Clay Rogers beaten 1 ¾ lengths has won twice since, the fourth Cavallino beaten a further 30 lengths has won on his only start since and even the fifth Fill The Tank has won twice since.
Chinx Of Light was given a bold ride by Brian Hayes that day and I feel that he will put the jumping of Eric Bloodaxe and Quantum Realm under pressure on their hurdling debuts and he should have a good chance of upsetting the favourite in this race.
19:30 Newcastle
The James Fanshawe trained SERENADING (best priced at 10-3) is a two-time winner at Newcastle and she should prove hard to beat back down in class. The five-year-old won her final starts of 2020 at this venue off marks of 65 and 70 over 7f with her final victory coming by four lengths and earning her a 10lb rise up to a mark of 80.
Since then, she has contested her next four starts on turf in better company including when 2nd in a Class 2 handicap at Newbury when only beaten 2 ¼ lengths. Serenading now drops back down from a Class 2 handicap into a Class 4 handicap off a mark of 79 and should prove hard to beat back on tapeta.
