Architect Tips has selected two tips for today's racing and both are running at Carlisle.
Bavington Bob seeks a four-timer and is respected but the in-form IOLANI (best price 6-1) should ensure it's not all plain sailing for the former given Dianne Sayers’ nine-year-old comfortably won a class-two over this trip at Kelso on his penultimate outing and is expected to give another good account of himself in this easier grade. His record on the flat course here is very good, while conditions will be in his favour, too. He was unlucky to be beaten half-a-length when dropped back to two-miles last time and it’s also interesting to see Alan Doyle booked for the ride who can claim five-pounds. He’s the only one of these proven at a higher level and that alone should be the contributing factor to him going close here.
MALPAS (best price 2-1) fell with the race seemingly at his mercy when departing two out at Sedgefield in the spring and, despite failing to complete on three of his four starts over timber, it surely won’t be long before he gains compensation with his yard in good form. Hadn’t he of fallen in those three starts his form figures in this sphere would read 1321 and that would surely make him an odds-on chance for this easier event. Donald McCain couldn’t have his team in better order and this gelding by Milan and partner Brian Hughes can make the most of this good opportunity.
